The world is a bit poorer off today as late last night Will Eisner died of complications from heart surgery.
Eisner was, even to the time of his death, one of the best and inventive comic artists ever to grace a page. He was there in the beginings of the art form and fostered the careers of many who'd go on to become greats in their own rights. He's perhaps best known for his work on the Spirit (an excellent overview of which you can find here.) one of the most stunning products of that earliest age of the form. There's also this rather touching tribute from Neil Gaiman which says things multiples of times better than I ever could.
